The Hybrid Bust
As with all great news organizations, UnderNews would like to take its own gander at the ubiquitous (and lucrative) “predictions/projections” business.
A news reader with a 70% “optimistic” outlook may find ones self thinking, maybe the flying car may not be coming as soon as I’d hoped, but at least the uber-MPG half-full tank of gas compressed air, fuel-cell, hybrid/electric, poop-powered, horse driven, solar-drive, and nuclear power vehicles… ad nauseum; cars might be coming soon…. right?
Sure…maybe… with the field wide open for “alternatively powered vehicles” and no actual standard way to power them, inventors (and the blogosphere) are going crazy discussing new ideas for power. And graciously to the Golden State residents, tax proceeds from the sales of these vehicles will probably end up fixing our highways. However, one can’t help but think that we’ve seen all of this before, and before, and again ad nauseum.
Without a standard for which to aim for, and without these electric vehicles’ abilities to recharge on the road, I don’t see a mass adoption of these “miracle cures” but I do foresee a great many overly-optimistic IPOs, and the horrifically depressing sell-offs and bankruptcies which occur.
So be wary, readers. financial dangers loom ahead. But you can both get rich and avoid getting poor (the two most important things in life) if you stick with us. And feel free to come back here in 5-7 years to tell us how right we were.
